Overview
CampusLink ("we", "our", or "us") is a social networking app designed exclusively for verified college students. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
- Account info: name, email address, year of study, program, gender (optional), bio, and interests — provided by you at registration.
- Profile photos: images you voluntarily upload to your profile.
- Messages: text and images sent between matched users in the in-app chat.
- Ratings & reviews: scores and comments left by other users about you.
- Events: events you create or RSVP to.
- Device token: a push notification token (FCM) used solely to deliver notifications to your device.
- Usage data: swipe actions (likes/passes) stored to power the matching algorithm.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To match you with other students in your campus community.
- To deliver real-time chat messages and push notifications.
- To display your public profile to other verified members of your organization.
- To maintain safety through block, report, and admin moderation features.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore, Firebase Auth, Firebase Storage), hosted on Google Cloud servers. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Data Sharing
We share data only in these limited cases:
- With Firebase / Google as our infrastructure provider.
- With other verified members of your organization — your public profile (name, photo, bio, rating) is visible to people in your campus group.
- If required by law or to protect user safety.
Your Rights
- Access: You can view all information on your profile at any time.
- Edit: You can update your profile information in the app at any time.
- Delete: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account inside the app.
- Block & Report: You can block or report any user from their profile or chat screen.
Children's Privacy
CampusLink is intended for users aged 17 and older (college students). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has registered, contact us immediately.
Push Notifications
We send push notifications for new matches, messages, and friend requests. You can disable notifications at any time in your device Settings → Notifications → CampusLink.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will notify users of significant changes via in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
